Scout Update Troop 29 had a very busy month for the month of Jul 2009 - Completed preparation to attend Camp Durant Summer Camp –week 5 - There were 10 Scouts and five adults that participated in Summer Camp week 5 - Attaboy to: Mr. Willie Jones, Mr. Lynn LaVallis, Mr. Dwayne Beason, Leroy Abner and Mr. Zachary Brown for assisting with Summer Camp 2009. Mr. Brown came through at the last minute when an adult had a conflict and fell out of the support list for the Camp - Troop 29 was awarded Honor Troop Status, God and country badge.and Karfa Kaba was selected as the best Trailblazer for the week. - Have about 15 parents and family members participate in Family Night on 21 Jul 2010 - There were two scouts that completed National Youth Leadership Training at Camp Reeves. This camp adjacent to Camp Durant - Scouts were recognized for their participation in the lowering of the flag. They performed magnificently and were touted for such performance by the entire camp as they set the stage for others to follow. - Troop 29 had three Scouts on Staff and they did equally well throughout the camp. All made it through summer camp and we will be looking toward those returning next summer with others for summer camp. - Mr. Abner, Eagle Scout Coordinator continues to work with the 6 x Eagle Scout Candidates with the completion of their Eagle Project workbook for approval and start of their Eagle Project. Three projects will be performed at the J.D. Fuller Receational Activity Center by Damien Wallace, John Manigo and David Michael Hackett. Other locations include: Lewis Chapel West (Quitman Starks), J.D. Fuller Place (Graham Saunders). and Alex Lavallis at his church. -Thanks for Ms. Lona Jones for driving the three scouts that were on Camp Staff to and from Camp Durant during Summer Camp Way Head: Troop 29 is preparing to focus on the rest of the calendar year. - Completion of Eagle Projects - Hiking - Personal Management Merit badge - Fall Camporee - Parades - Centennial and roadside cleanup - Recruiting new Scouts while we grow the ones that crossed over in June
